Pearl

Unlike mineral gemstones, pearls are organic gems formed inside mollusks. Their beauty comes from luster—the soft reflection of light across layers of nacre—rather than the sharp sparkle of a faceted stone.
Pearls have long been associated with refinement, sincerity and wisdom developed through experience. They are often chosen for weddings, anniversaries, graduations and other moments that mark personal growth.
Freshwater and saltwater cultured pearls may differ in shape, size, color, surface quality and luster. Small irregularities do not automatically indicate poor quality; they can reflect the organic formation process. Pearls are relatively soft, so apply perfume and cosmetics before putting them on, wipe them after wear and keep them away from harsh chemicals and excessive heat.
