Amazonite
Amazonite is a blue-green variety of microcline feldspar, often showing pale streaks, cloudy patches or subtle variations between turquoise, mint and soft green. Its cool color gives bracelets, necklaces and earrings a relaxed appearance that pairs naturally with silver, clear quartz, moonstone and sandalwood.
Despite its name, amazonite is not historically known to come from the Amazon River region. The name developed from earlier associations with green stones reportedly found near the river, even though their identity was uncertain.
In contemporary gemstone traditions, amazonite is associated with courage, balanced communication and expressing personal boundaries with honesty. Rather than promising emotional or physical healing, it can be worn as a reminder to speak clearly while remaining willing to listen.
Amazonite has natural cleavage and can chip if struck. Keep it away from hard impacts, ultrasonic cleaning, strong chemicals and sudden temperature changes. Variations in color, white streaking and translucency are normal characteristics of the material.
